My Autumn Manifesto
Over the past three weeks I've enjoyed connecting with Autumn. It still feels quite early on in the season for me as I've only had three weeks of it at home so far. Stepping off a plane after our honeymoon to cold temperatures, and swapping my shorts for jeans, suntan lotion for gloves and scarves, was initially a little shock but was a moment that connected me back to my favourite time of the year. I've loved kicking the leaves, looking up at the trees and capturing the colours, and soaking up the golden sunshine when I can. Before our wedding day I started jotting down ideas for my Autumn manifesto and today I wanted to share with you my simple manifesto for this season...
For me each season brings with it something new, a new chapter. As I wrote in my last post I feel that I'm at a new stage of my journey. I take real pleasure from noticing the changes and I love the blurry edges to the seasons as they move to the next. In January I wrote about my word of the year, Awaken. I decided that I wanted to awaken more of a connection to the seasons than I have done before. I wanted to awaken more awareness and awaken my senses.
To help me achieve this I'm writing a manifesto for each season of the year. A manifesto for me is a statement that pulls together my thoughts, my musings and the key things I feel that I want to get out of the season ahead and to help act as a guide. For me it's about thinking of the simple pleasures I love during the season, celebrating what the season brings, creating direction, creating actions, and practical achievable intentions, with the outcome of connecting more to each season in an intentional and focused way. Living with the seasons and observing their small changes is something I do unconsciously, I love the moments when I notice the shifts. I want to awaken more awareness and connection.
Life can feel full at times and especially so during this summer for me. It is now time to make the most of the opportunity for change, become even more mindful, take time to observe, adjust and plan. Here is my simple autumn manifesto...
I've started focusing on these intentions for the past few weeks and loving what they are bringing into my day to day. Next month I'll let you know what I've done to live my autumn manifesto.
