Welcome to my April journal. Each month I gather my musings and noticings captured during fleeting moments during the month. I’m documenting the stories and moments each month to create my own regular gratitude and journaling practice. Journaling about life can be achievable and is a way to connect to the experiences that make up the patchwork of our lives. Rather than lengthy prose, snippets of memories and photos can capture the feelings from the moments that are equally as valuable. There are no rules to journaling. It is space for you to document in whichever way you choose.

April has been a quieter month as work progresses on our home renovations and we catch up with family. The focus is shifting more to being outside and enjoying spring. Here is my April journal…

…Our little one turned 6 months old this month and has started sitting up for the first time. I’m completely in awe of her development and the speed at which she is growing.

…We spent time spent seeing our families and catching up throughout the month making it feel really special.

…I had my birthday and turned 37. A week day birthday can feel a little bit odd and being on maternity leave too can at times feel a little lonely. I decided to have breakfast out at a local cafe, with our little one asleep, giving a rare moment to read a magazine and savour a decaf coffee.

…The house renovations continue and are slowly progressing, this month our fitted wardrobes are being handmade. We’re looking forward to having storage and changing how we use our space.

…We’ve been heading out into the garden more to see what is growing. Introducing our little one to tulips and watching her face as she reached and touched the petals was magical.

…We’ve had a few wonderful warm weekends so have enjoyed soaking up the sunshine and made the most of great walking weather.

…We live about 15 minutes from Tyntesfield, a National Trust property and gardens. We met up with friends for a quick walk and headed to a local pub for a lovely lunch. It was a rare opportunity to gather friends at the end of the month.

…I’ve been busy tidying up our garden, mowing our lawn, tidying the greenhouse and shed, and planting up seeds and seedlings into pots. We have tomatoes, peppers and chillies growing from seed at the moment.

…Making small moments of time to connect to my passion for photography, capturing images of blossom, bluebells and signs of spring.
