Capturing the Details :: Spring - Mapping my journey of change through images

Discovering life from a different view point can be refreshing. Getting up close with the detail and taking a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the day to capture the details, is my way of creating space for me and allows me to spend time being creative. Photography is my way of making a mindful moment in my day and is one of my passion projects that has been part of my life for many years. Many of these images have been captured in our small urban garden over the past few months and others have been captured in spaces very close by to our home. From the flowering of magnolia trees, blossom on trees, and bluebell season, through to the chives in our herb garden flowering most recently in the past few weeks...I've got up close, decided to see things at a different level. I've looked up, I've looked down, and hunted for details that I wanted to capture. The summer feels so very close with the astronomical summer season starting next week. We've had sunshine filled days and warmth over the past week that has enabled our garden to burst with greenery. Today I thought it was time to share my photos captured of nature this Spring that I really love and also connect you to how I have mapped and journeyed through change through images I've captured and shared...

Going through and collating these images for my Spring round up of 'Capturing the Details' has given me space to really think deeply and have time to reflect the meaning that I have captured and shared. I look at my Instagram feed and see my journey of the past few months mapped out in a group of images and comments identifying change. I can see in early spring the bright imagery expressing the moment when I had the opportunity of change and knowing that the change would allow me to thrive. Stepping through changes of emotions, taking time away from the space, and then re-entering with a seemingly green and purple palette filling my Instagram feed...It's a steady palette of similar colours that feels like my expression of calm, probably selected subconsciously when I have got home from a day at work. A moment of calm that I needed to create and see in amongst full on change.

My positive energy and my personal desire to achieve, to feel in flow, and to create something has, for the first time in many many years, happened in my day job. I feel so full of happy feelings as I write this...it has been a long time coming...and as I say 'good things come to those who wait'. As I've been settling into a new job much of my energy and time has been spent finding my location on a map of my next personal journey, I've zoomed in, found the space on the ground to start the next part of my route from...then looked for the tiny details and a space to lay great foundations. These foundations of emotion, drive and atmosphere have become a feeling of 'home' to navigate forwards from. What I love is that I have managed to bring everything from my life to date into one space. My journey that I have mapped to this point has been artfully and carefully curated. Elements have been found by accident whilst challenging myself to jump off my route, they've been experienced when I went beyond my comfort zone, they have been gathered in the environments where I have chosen to develop myself...I've created a firm new marker point on my map where I can now navigate from and move forwards from.

At this new marker point I've prepared the ground, weeded and cleared the space to enable me to plant something new. With the ground weeded, I have added new nutrients to re-establish a rich organic source to grow in, I've mixed it in with what was already there and let it settle. A new seed has then been planted, it's taken time to germinate with roots taking time to grow and establish, and now the shoot from the seed has the right conditions to grow and small roots holding it in place. A stem has grown and small leaves are starting to grow enabling others noticing it to identify what the plant will be that will be growing in the space...for me it feels and looks like a tree with solid roots growing stronger and stronger...Creating a great foundation and system for roots to grow is enabling the growth. New growth will be able to deal with whatever may happen with each season ahead and the daily weather that will be part of the growth journey ahead. Like the name of my blog, and the reasons behind it, this season sees the new growth of a new tree, one that will really be able to be in bloom, where creativity, practicality and seasonal change can all occur...

I invite you today to look back at the images you have captured to see what your story shows. What does it show you? How do you feel about it? What do you want to do differently in your next set of images? I invite you to journal a few thoughts in a favourite notebook or your bullet journal, perhaps you could piece together your timeline of change, and then set yourself one thing you want to be doing next...and then set a date when you want it to show up for you and make plans to make it really happen for you...For me it will be about expressing colour that always fills my life. I will make this happen by the time I round up my summer post for Capturing the Details...
